About la Cabra


Inspired by travels across Central & South America, Sherry, Josh & Derrick fell in love with the authentic flavours of Mexico. When the three amigos got home to Melbourne, Australia, they didn’t want to eat anything else! One evening, the three of them got together and reminisced on their time in Mexico. A few margaritas & mezcals later, they had started to formulate a plan on how they could share their new-found love for Mexican food & culture with their home-town, Hawthorn, Melbourne.


Sherry, Josh & Derrick opened their first La Cabra restaurant in Hawthorn in 2019. Their number one goal was to make people happy as soon as they entered the doors. This came easy to them as the team’s passion for Modern Mexican was authentic. Fast forward to 2022, and the team have opened a total of 4 locations across Melbourne (Hawthorn, Hampton, St Kilda and Carlton), with plans to launch Australia-wide.

The greatest times are yet to be had, until you visit La Cabra - The G.O.A.T.

Our Food


At La Cabra, our produce is locally sourced from Melbourne, Australia and Mexico. Our recipes are inspired by worldly travels across South America and the authentic Mexican cuisine, focusing on fresh flavours and ingredients including ancho, guajillo poblano chillies and white-corn tortillas.
